The next community service event that Cherryville Repeater Assn II will
participate in will be the Blackwell Mills Trail Ride on Oct 5 2014.
This is an equestrian event which consists of riding horses along the
tow path from Blackwell Mills, Franklin Twp, Somerset County (Six Mile
Run State Park) to Rocky Hill and back, and also on trails within the
State Park. We need people to man checkpoints along the routes and
report back rider information. It is not a race, but we need to keep
track of who is where. The riders are usually in groups of two to four.

The checkpoints for the first half of the event are:
Start/Finish in State Park
Blackwell Mills bridge
Griggstown Crossing
Rocky Hill

The riders go down to Rocky Hill and return on the canal towpath so they
will pass the checkpoints twice. The horses are check by a vet and given
a half hour rest when they return.

The second half of the event is in the park and the checkpoints are:
Start/Finish
Blackwell Mills Road
Domchowsky's Farm
Jacques Lane

The riders go through the park on a loop after the farm and return on
the same trail. The two road checkpoints are on the edges of the park.

The start time is about 8:30AM and the event ends at about 2PM.

We will be using the K2NJ repeater, located in Hillsborough, which is on
147.135, PL 151.4, +600 offset. The Cherryville coverage is spotty in
Rocky Hill. I have permission to use this repeater on that date.

Please let me know if you are available, even for half the event.

Everyone,

A bill, HR-4969, has been introduced in the US House. Entitled the "Amateur
Radio Parity Act of 2014" the bill will direct the FCC to extend the
"reasonable accommodation" provisions for Amateur Radio antennas to include
all types of land-use regulation, including deed restrictions and
restrictive covenants. This is IMPORTANT LEGISLATION that deserves your
attention, support and most importantly, direct and immediate ACTION

<http://www.arrl.org/hr-4969> What will HR 4969 do?-

It will ensure that every ham in the US, regardless of the community they
live in, will have the opportunity to practice their avocation from their
own homes without breaking any rules or fear of reprisal.

If enacted, HR 4969 would direct the FCC to extend the reasonable
accommodation protections to those amateurs who are living in
deed-restricted communities. Known as "CC&Rs" (covenants, conditions and
restrictions) are the prohibitions and limitations placed on properties by
builders or home-owner associations (HOAs) which prevent licensed Amateurs
from erecting even modest antennas.

HR 4969 would not give Amateurs "carte blanche" to do whatever they wished.
It would require HOAs and other private land use regulations to extend
reasonable accommodation to Amateurs wishing to erect antennas.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

The ARRL has a comprehensive explanation of this bill on their website:
http://www.arrl.org/hr-4969

Please read over the material, and spend ten minutes to compose and send
your own comments to the US Representative for your political entity.
Genuine, original correspondence is far more effective than petitions or
form letters. If you know your Congressman personally, call him or her.
Use electronic means to submit comments.....snail mail is often delayed
WEEKS due to security precautions in effect since 9-11.

It is extremely important we do everything possible with this opportunity.
The future of current and future Amateur Radio operators to install any
antennas where they live is at stake. Restrictions on antennas at the HOA
and CC&R level are growing exponentially. It is time to act....NOW. Thanks.

STAY SAFE AND STAY WELL!
