All -
As you can see from Mike's N1MNV email, the club has an event that is
open for all of you to participate in. The date is Sunday September7.
No experience is necessary. You just need a valid ham license and an
HT. If you don't have an HT then I have a couple that can be shared.
The Skylands Triathlon is one of the club;s premiere events. We get to
help support the community by supporting the race and use Amateur Radio
in the process. We need to place our people at several stations
throughout the bike course and report in the top 3 male and the top 3
female bike riders. We also keep our eyes open for disable bikes or
fallen riders. We need to fill about 10 stations. Te more, the merrier
as we can place more experience operators with some of our newer folks.
The event is performed in a directed net fashion. The means that all
communications are done two and from the net control station and a
remote station. Communications from remote to remote is done only with
the permission of net control. In the past, we have used either the
repeater (375 or 015) or simplex. It is up to the net control to decide
how he wants to run the net.
If memory serves me right, there are bagels and coffee in the morning
and perrogies when the event is done. The perrogies alone are well
worth signing up for the event. As an added bonus, the event will
provide us with T-shirts for helping out.
If you are interested in participating in the event then please let Mike
N1MNV know ASAP so that he can plan for the event. His e-mail address
is n1mnv at comcast.net. Or if you prefer, you can contact me at
Kurt at kuhlroad.net.
I hope to see you all on Sunday.
