Hi Riders and Volunteers,
Thank you all for your support of the Ride for the Ribbons! We had a
wonderfully beautiful weather day, and it looked like all riders had
fun. We can't hold a ride without the volunteers - so thank you all for
volunteering your time so that others could spend the day riding -
especially those nonriders that came out to support the ride! If I have
inadvertently forgotten someone, please pass this along. I hope I have
gotten everyone (except all the radio crew since I don't have everyone's
email addresses - Tony, please forward on!), but if you see a friend of
yours missing, please pass this along.
With the help of our sponsors for the ride, we are able to donate $1750
to New Bolton Center in Taffeta Ribbons memory! I am sure they will
appreciate our efforts to help them help our horses, and other large
animals. I know that the staff will send their thanks to each and every
one of you for making this possible. And I especially thank you for
helping me keep Ribbons' memory alive through this ride.
Each year is a learning experience, and we take all comments on the
evaluations seriously (I have not had a chance to look at any evaluation
forms yet, but I hope there are good comments for next year!). If
anyone wants to help organize and plan the ride - it starts with the new
year. It takes nearly a year to plan the ride, talk to the park, get
sponsors for awards, etc, any help is much appreciated. Otherwise, I
hope to see many of you in the same location next year - either riding
or volunteering:-) And lets hope for another beautiful day.
Many of you have expressed concern for McKenna. She is healing well and
will be back on Digger's back in no time and already looking forward to
another ride. Welcome to distance riding McKenna! And always always
wear your helmets when riding - it may very well have saved McKenna's
life, or at least her brain. Attached is the picture of her helmet
after the fall - I know we all have to wear a helmet when competing, but
I hope this makes you think to wear one every time when mounted.
Thank you again for supporting the ride and helping to donate to Penn
Vet's New Bolton Center in Ribbons name.
Forever grateful,
Jessica and Sandy
If man could be crossed with a cat, it would improve man, but
deteriorate the cat.
Oh what fun to be a cat!
