[W2CRA] Amateur Radio Demo at Scout Camporee

Hello Cherryville!
 
At the last club meeting, an invitation by the local Boy Scouts organization to demonstrate Amateur Radio at an upcoming Camporee was brought to the club.  Our Vice President, Kurt, KR2C, contacted the scout leadership and learned that this Camporee will include some 400 scouts, and they are looking for a demonstration of an Amateur Radio operation on the air.  This event will be held on Saturday October 12, at Round Valley near the south dam.  There is a covered pavilion there with electricity.  Their request was that we have a station on the air for demo for approximately 4 hours on that Saturday afternoon.
 
Kurt indicated he was willing to coordinate the event, however, due to a conflicting family obligation, he is not able to be at the event.  We need to have some volunteers for this event, and also need one volunteer to act as the "manager" to assure that we get everything we need procured, delivered, set up, and working.  
 
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase both Amateur Radio in general, and CRA in particular.  We have discussed the need to attract younger individuals to join the club, and this event offers us a way to reach out to them.  I am sure that there are a half dozen club members or more who would enjoy an opportunity to make this happen.  If you are one of them, please contact Kurt or me via e-mail.  We need to have an answer from enough people to pull this together no later than October 1, 2013.
 
Please think about how you can help make this a shining success and how you can contribute a couple of hours on a Saturday and get back to us as soon as you can.  We need you to help make this happen and to help us attract younger people into our club.  Don't you want the same?
