All,
Since this event covers a large area it is imperative that you maximize your
communications capabilities:
- Do NOT attempt to use an HT with a rubber duck antenna. Use a 1/2 wave
antenna if you HAVE to use an HT,
- Use a mobile where possible. Consider making or otherwise obtaining a
10' microphone extension cord or even remoting your radio (longer /
extension power and antenna cables) to the trunk, hood or a table near the
car,
- Be prepared to move (the antenna or you and your HT) back or forward by
as much as 10' to get out of "dead" spots, I'm assuming we will be using 015
so remember that it is still running at only 20W but, since none of you have
20W HT's, that shouldn't be a big problem.
