HELLO CHERRYVILLE!
Bill Powell has received word through the County that the transfer of radio systems to the new tower is very near. A work party is needed as soon as possible to get the preparation work done so we can make a rapid transfer from the old tower to the new tower and from the small block building to the County transmitter building. Bill needs our help to get this done. If we do not help him with this, 147.375 will go off the air until the work is completed! I have included his message below. Please read it and contact Bill to offer your time to assist.
This is NOT my repeater, Bill's repeater, or the Board's repeater. It is YOUR repeater! As club members, we need to step up and do what must be done to keep us on the air! Reach out to Bill now at whp at att.net or reply to this message and I will relay your replies to him.

======================
All,
Just found out yesterday that the tower switchover is forthcoming.
IMMEDIATE TASKS:
We need to dig up the last 10' to 15' of both cables at the tower
end of the run. This will allow us to bring the cables into the
county transmitter building and then run jumpers to the new tower.
Skills required: Shovel and some caution to avoid damaging the cable.
We also need to move the 440 MSF5000 from the RACES room to the
county transmitter building, remove it from it's case and mount in a
cabinet.
Skills required: Able to use a hand truck
Both cabinets need battery trays constructed (angle iron and
plywood). Serve both as clean power and "ballast" to keep the
cabinets from tipping.
Skills required: Basic metal working; hacksaw and drill, table or
skill saw and painting. Welding if we get lucky.
Lag bolt the cabinets to the floor.
Sooner than later as, at the moment, there is nothing in the cabinets
and it is relatively easy to do.
Skills & tools required: Hammer-drill, inserts, lag bolts
NONE of this requires electronic or even electrical skills.
I'd like someone to pick up these projects and get them accomplished
BEFORE they cut the cables too short to jumper when they bring down
the old tower.
When will this happen?
Good question - sooner than later but once the crane is here - too
late - we're off the air.
Bill Powell
