I would like to thank the following for returning the Survey for the
year. AC2BH KA2OEE NU2W W2HWW
As of this date these are the Official Members on record so far to
Hunterdon County A.R.E.S.
Emails are also going out to non-club member's for interest in joining
the group over the next month.
It has been mentioned that at March's meeting I will be giving a
presentation on A.R.E.S. */Were it is and were it is headed/*. I will
have forms for another members who wish to join at that time. Here are
some FAQ
1. Is there any training required ?
Yes.. Have a Valid Ham license there is also IMS-800 which is an online
course and can be taken at home. It is encouraged to take a CPR and a
basic First Aid class but not required. ( This training is being looked
into for the HC Group from the Red Cross )
2. Do I need special equipment ?
No. But to operate you need a 2m and 70cm Radio . Other equipment such
as HF and Digital mode equipment is a plus. In the future the NNJ
section is establishing a Digital mode standard to move information form
section to section.
3. I would help but I have to make sure my family is safe first. Is
there still something I can do ??
All operators are to take care of family first. Through planning and
training most operators have a system setup to accomplish this. All
Alerts will be a days in advance and if a deployment is possible at
least 24 hrs notice will be provided. ( As with any Emergency this can
not be guaranteed and a rapid deployment notice might happen ). In some
situation's a trained operator can work from his QTH if the situation
fits; example as a control station or a relay point.
More info to come at the next meeting. Any question's feel free to email
me at anytime.
