Obituary: Kenneth 'Sandy' Jon Somers of Lebanon Township, retired PSE&G engineer

Kenneth “Sandy” Jon Somers Jr. of Lebanon Township passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 66.
 
He was born on June 17, 1946 in Bayonne and resided there until moving to Hunterdon County in 1988. He was the son of Kenneth Jon Somers. of Bayonne and the late Helen M. Deptula Somers.
 
Sandy was the husband of Donna V. Zaremba Somers, celebrating 31 years of marriage.
 
He received his associate’s degree in electrical engineering from NJIT. He retired in 2012 as a senior test engineer of PSE&G in Maplewood. Memberships include: Valley Forge Military Academy Sun’s of Cannons, former EMT in Bayonne, former captain of Bayonne Auxiliary Police and past member of Lebanon Township Fire Department. 
 
Sandy enjoyed classic rock music and loved going to concerts. He also was a NJ Devils fan and most notably he loved fixing things. He was an amateur radio operator and he also had an interest in meteorology. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his two shining stars, his two granddaughters.

Survivors in addition to his wife and father include two sons, Kenneth Jon Somers III and Justin Jay Somers, both at home; one daughter, Julia Ann and her husband Charles A. Hoffman III of Lebanon Township; two granddaughters, Alera Marie Hoffman and Aria Ann Hoffman of Lebanon Township; one brother, Shawn P. Somers and his wife Connie of Manalapan; one sister, Kandace Cumella of Cresskill; two sisters-in-law, Lori Wzyga and her husband Stanley, of Bear, Del. and Yolanda Perez and her husband Manny of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; three nieces, Alyssa Somers Farlow and her husband Alex, Ashley Wzyga and Yeshira Perez; and three nephews, Shawn Ryan Somers, Tomas Perez and Cristian Perez. 
 
Calling hours will be Friday, April 12, 1-4 p.m. with funeral services at 4, all at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main St., High Bridge, NJ 08829. Interment is private.
