[W2CRA] Field Day

All,

It looks like my absence from the general club meeting has got me 
volunteered to co-chair the field day event.  We don't have much time to 
organize and get ready and I'm far too busy to do it myself.  I look to 
you all to help me out.  What I suggest is to divide and conquer.  We 
should divide ourselves into "teams" so that the burden of 
responsibility doesn't fall on to any one person.  As in any good team, 
we have team captains.  Right now I'm asking for volunteers to be these 
captains.  this is all off the top of my head so if you have further 
suggestions, please let me know.  Here is a list of teams I'd like 
captains for:

    * Facility
    * Food
    * Stations
    * Build Up/Tear Down
    * Organization

I would expect that that captains further break down their 
responsibilities to other members of the club and/or family/friends to 
get their tasks done.  Please read the job descriptions and let me know 
if you would like to volunteer your time to be a captain.  If you are a 
more seasoned member and are physically unable to captain a team, please 
don't feel that you are exempt.  Your experience from participation over 
the years would not only be valuable to our captains but since I've only 
ever participated in 2 field day evens in my short tenure your vast 
wisdom would be of great value to me.  I need all of your help.

*Facility*

    * Secure permission for the field day site on the days of our event.
    * Get the trailer moved to the event site or organize members with
      pickups to move needed "stuff" toe the event site.
    * Ensure that we have the necessary towers/poles and equipment to
      raise antennas. (work with Station captain on what is needed)
    * Arrange for generators and gasoline
    * Plan for shelter. tents/campers/lanscape trailer, etc.....
    * Lockdown plan for over night unused gear
    * Arrange for funding for generator rentals and gas
    * Get gear back to trailer


*Food*

    * Solicit donations of food or money for event
    * Make sure Grill is in working order and has propane
    * Water or drink for Build up/ Tear Down
    * Coffee/donuts for morning operators
    * Hotdogs/hamburgers for lunch/ dinner
    * Garbage removal from site

*Station*

    * Plan for operation stations.  What class will we run for the event?
    * Plan for antennas.  beams? dipoles? verticals?  combination?
    * GOTA Station
    * Station modes.  SSB/PSK/RTTY/CW VHF or Satelite
    * Work with Facility captain on site layout and hookups

*Build Up/Tear Down*

    * Organize manpower necessary to build Field Day site
    * Work with Facilities captain on getting needed equipment from
      trailer to site
    * Assisted with obtaining forgotten resources during the event
    * Organize manpower to tear down site at the end of the event.
    * Work with Facilities captain to get gear back to trailer

*Organization*

    * Work with all captains to help organize the event
    * Advertise our event to the public.
    * Work the Station captain with the GOTA station
    * Develop an operator schedule

I'm sure that there is a bunch that I missed.  Again, I'm looking to be 
"Elmered" here by the veterans.  We can always add to the list.  Field 
Day will soon be upon us.  let me know as soon as you can how you can 
help out.
