All,

Looks like I spoke too soon.
We need to yank the new controller and either "hack" the programming or 
reprogram from scratch.  We also need to reinitialize the voice module: it is 
sending the 1 minute of silence, thinking it is playing a  l o n g  voice ID.
I'm getting 3 ID-O-Matic IIs (hamgadgets.com) to use as backup controllers - all 
built and packaged the same, differing only in external wiring and programming: 
One as an in-place backup at the control site, one as the alarm controller at 
the transmit site and one as a spare (spare).
Looking for help in determining a packaging and interface standard to make 
swapping spare stuff in and out a no-brainer.
Finally,

I'm going to try to drain a battery next weekend.  Stop by for the fun and to 
help hose the acid off of me when it goes astray . . .
