After a bit of miscommunication, this is a message
Tom was trying to send. My apology for not
catching Tom as the original sender, but at least
it's here now.

So I was thinking the other day about how I was
going to get several lines over some trees at
about 50-65 feet

Throwing an object was out of the question
..using
a ladder
NOT

toooo high!

No bow and arrow,,,,no wrist launcher,,,,I do not
know any pitchers
or anyone from a Fire Dept that
might loan me their ladder truck

How do I build a launcher like something I saw
used at a soccer game where they shoot stuff into
the audience at halftime
and has some accuracy

It then dawned on me
.A Lacrosse Stick
.

SUPER, effortless, cheap and VERY effective
..

It has a net at one end that is large enough for a
softball
and I happen to find one of them too
that was lime green (do not ask)
cannot be lost!

I duct tapped (one wrap) around the ball with KITE
string and let it fly
..you can point it and apply
what ever force you need to get over whatever you
got
. Basic physics,,,,fulcrum, mechanical
advantage and some kids toys
. not rocket
science
..

I layout the KITE string on the ground
.very loose
in 5-10 foot loop and in rows
.not on top of each
other
.loose is the key
. unwind the string from
the reel as much as is needed and then some
.. I
try to eliminate as much drag/resistance as
possible

This Kite string I call a messenger line
..After
I get the messenger line over the tree and  at the
height and position I  desired, I attached  3/16”
Double Braided Dacron rope [770 lb tensile] to it
and pull it back over the tree as my final support
ropes
.

For forming loops I use a bowline knot
.  I use
the  sheet bend to secure two ropes together and
two-half hitches for securing rope to an object
[like a tree branch]
.These 3 knots are easy to
tie, do not slip and are easy to undo
.any
camping, boy scout manual has the directions
..

I used a 30” stick. I am 5’5” and easily topped
those trees after a little practice and adjusted
timing
.and we all know timing is everything!

I guess too a larger lacrosse stick would yield
more projection too
..but I was amazed at how
high/far me and the 30” stick would get
.

TRY it
..   And NO one can accuse you for using a
weapon [bow/arrow, wrist launcher, etc
.]

YOU are just practicing Lacrosse!

ENJOY
