Hello all-
Since I have been coordinating the scores for field day, I took the liberty
to get a clarification of this year's activities from the arrl.
As most of us are aware, this year - and only this year thus far- we can
participate in field day using our OWN CALLS and have them count as a
cumulative score for the club. Previous years required the use of the club
call for this type of credit and the requirement to be 50 miles from the
club central location.
This year, We need to submit our own scores, preferably via the web app,
(the link is on arrl-dot-org in the field day section). One needs to enter
the name of the the club in the proper field. The only glitch is that the
club name must be the same for the software to concatenate it all together.
Thus I suggest we all use "Sturdy Memorial Hospital ARC" which is the
official name registered with the ARRL, when submitting our scores.
Per the arrl, individual scores will be listed as well as the cumulative
score for the club in the December issue of QST.
I suggested to Paul,n1sfe, the contest manager, that a drop down be
provided so that we can choose the proper name correctly. His response
(see below) indicates that this may happen. If it does not I suggest we
enter the official club name as above.

Good morning,
For Field Day, the club/group does not need to be an ARRL affiliated club.
Any 1 or 2 person group can submit a Field Day entry as a Class B, and
sometimes those names are “Paul and Joe’s Field Day” or names like that.
Since we are not limited to ARRL affiliated clubs, a simple drop down menu
on the entry form will not be sufficient. There stil needs to be the
ability to “free type” in the field for those groups who are not an ARRL
affiliated club.
What we are working on is having a suggested list populate based upon what
is being typed in the “club name” field. This list will have ARRL
affiliated clubs, as well as ARRL contest clubs as suggestions. I
recommend using the full official name of the club, and avoiding the use of
acronyms.
The key is that all members who wish to attribute their score to the club
use the same exact name, hence my suggestion to use the full official name
of the club. For example, all members use “Sturdy Memorial Hospital ARC”
(The Field Day entry form does not have that functionality yet, but as I
typed in “stur” the form gave me “Sturdy Memorial Hospital ARC” as a
suggestion on a test page that the developer provided me.)

Hi Paul-
I have read the waivers for the 2020 field day activities.
However, I need a clarification for out club participation - Sturdy
Memorial Hospital ARC.
1. Do participating clubs need to be members of the ARRL? (we are)
2. How can you ensure that club members who participate actually spell the
club name the same way e.g. ARC vs Amateur Radio Club to be included in the
club totals?
We can, of course, announce it to club members but there are always
exceptions.
Can the official club list be available as a drop down in the web app
submission form for 2020?
Thanks
Joe
