Subject: CERT Webinar
Good Afternoon,
On behalf of FEMA’s Individual and Community Preparedness Division (ICPD), thank you to all who registered for and attended the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Update Webinar this past Tuesday, December 10. We appreciate your participation, questions submitted, and feedback. For those who were unable to attend or would like to view again, a recording of the webinar is available here: https://icpd.adobeconnect.com/pmqg3q4whhd4/
(we recommend viewing in Google Chrome and “switching to classic view” once it loads).
As we mentioned during the webinar, the updates to the CERT Basic Training Curriculum include:
• Enhancements to the Medical Operations, Terrorism, and Disaster Psychology sections;
• Revised order of course to emphasize organization; and
• Supplemental Hazard Annexes.
The key lessons and information from the Basic course have not changed significantly. The updates are meant to improve the existing Basic in small changes, and it is not necessary to order new materials or retake a train the trainer program. If you have CERT Basic courses scheduled, trainers can review the updated materials and supplement lessons plans with updated material as they see valuable and pertinent.
The Updated CERT Basic manuals will be available for ordering through the ICPD publications warehouse link: https://www.fema.gov/media-library/assets/documents/177443 on January 8, 2020. Online copies will be available on this date as well. If you order manuals, shipping time is an anticipated 4-6 weeks.
ICPD will also be hosting a second CERT Basic webinar on January 8, 2020 at 4:00pm EST. We will designate time specifically for Q&A and hope to engage with CERTs throughout the country. The content of this webinar will once again review the information from the event held on December 10 – if you know of individuals who were unable to attend the December 10 event, please do let them know about the January 8 session; registration link here:

Again, thank you for your feedback and support of the CERT Program!
Thanks,
