Hello to all,
With last month's nets occurring on the second Monday of the
month due to the Labor Day Holiday and this month's nets falling on
the very first day of the month, it really does seem like only
yesterday that I was typing up a reminder e-mail for the nets!
I am writing to remind everyone that tomorrow, Monday October
1st, 2018 is the first non-holiday Monday of the month and, as such,
is our monthly RACES/ACS drill night. I would like to thank all
operators who assisted with last month's nets. This month's nets
will again be run facing the challenge of not having use of the MEMA
Region #2 Headquarters communication setup.
For the last couple of months that we have been operating
"remotely" I have been able to participate in or monitor during
nearly all of our Sector Nets. This month due to work requirements I
will be unable to act as a Net Control Operator or monitor nets to
take notes. Sector 2D and the HF net have Net Control Operators
already designated and ready to go. Sectors 2A, 2B and 2C do
not have NCOs lines up at this time. Operators who would like to
act as Net Control for any of these nets are asked to please
e-mail me at WC1MAB at gmail.com and I can get a copy of the Net
Preamble and Roll Call List over to you straight away.
Last months nets went extremely well especially given
the unusual configuration of Net Control Operators. I and MEMA very
much appreciate everyone's flexibility and willingness to work
together to overcome our temporary state of stationless-ness! For
those operators from last month that served as Net Control
Operators, I am missing the net attendance reports from a couple of
nets. If you did not e-mail me the net report from last month or the
month before for that matter, please do so as those numbers are
reported to MEMA to show them our level of participation.
The Region #2 and State Net Schedule for this evening is as follows:
Net

Time
Sector 2A
147.00 /+0.60 PL
19:30 Local
Sector 2B

18:45 Local
For the Region 2 operators and Net Control team members, I would
like to know who may be available to assist as a NCO from home. Any
operators who would like to take a net, please respond and let me
know if and how you might be participating. Since we will not have
an operator at WC1MAB to maintain a log at Region 2 Headquarters, it
would be very helpful for Net Control Stations to please e-mail
their net reports to me at WC1MAB at gmail.com in the days
following the nets.
As always, if anyone has been interested in participating as
Net Control Stations, the call for operators is an open one. This is
a great skill to practice and can be a big help for our region in
the event that the State EOC is operating in lieu of the Region
Office, but communications still need to happen. If any local RACES
operators who have participated in nets recently are interested in
acting as NCO please let me know and we will see how we can get you
into the fray. As always, if anyone is receiving this note and does
not wish to receive further messages of this kind, please reply and
let me know. Also, if you know someone who would benefit from being
on this list, please have them contact me at WC1MAB at gmail.com
and I will add them to this distribution. Thank you all!
If anyone has any questions or comments I can be reached by
e-mail or cell phone. Thanks for being a part of our team and I look
forward to hearing back on who can participate this month.
Sincerely,
Michael Leger (N1YLQ)
