    Hello to all,

As many, if not all, of you know, the state is expected to
receive a major winter storm that is anticipated to cause blizzard
and near blizzard conditions to our region over the next 24-48
hours. At this time I have not received any official request to
activate the RACES/ACS communications unit at Region #2, but such a
request could come at any moment with a storm of this nature. At
this time I ask that all RACES/ACS operators verify proper operation
of their equipment and make contact with their respective Emergency
Management Directors to determine what action, if any, may be
required or helpful during or after this storm. I also ask that any
RACES/ACS operators that are monitoring their local nets please
assist the Skywarn Communications function of NWS Taunton. The data
obtained from Amateur Radio Operators during these sorts of events
can be critical to the operational forecasts which are used heavily
by emergency management decision makers at the highest levels.

I ask that any Local Net Control Operators monitor your
nearest RACES/ACS repeaters for urgent traffic and that any Bunker
Communication team members please let me know your availability for
ops over the next 24-48 hours. Please keep in mind that any
operators that arrive at the Bunker, if requested, may find
themselves unable to leave for 24 hours due to road conditions. Food
may or may not not be provided, so please plan your availability and
    any "go bags" appropriately.

The following points are important guidance for Amateur
Emergency Communicators for tomorrow's winter storm event:

NWS Taunton station WX1BOX will be activated starting around
        0600EST.

The Cape and Islands MACC (Multi Agency Coordination Center)
will be active tomorrow (04JAN18) starting around 0600EST.

Should RACES/ACS nets be activated, they will be conducted in
ACS (Aux Comms Service) mode and will NOT include the mandate
that ONLY RACES authorized stations participate unless otherwise
        noted by Net Control.

With the exception of EMERGENCY or Priority traffic, all MEMA
Nets will give priority to SKYWARN traffic when frequencies are
shared between the two nets if any conflicts arise.

Where MEMA nets are required, they will be occurring on the
        following frequencies:
