That was my suggestion to Lt Jackson in a side bar email
That will solve the issue no matter where they are.
I think it is important to have them represented and we need to accommodate their needs

Perhaps we can plug in a couple of 12 volt battery chargers so no matter where the cruisers are set up, they will stay charged without needing to be left running!

Thank you, Ray. One of the cruisers had to be left running for a while so the battery did not drain completely, as the equipment was running to show the spectators.

Hi Vera
It was an unfortunate last minute change of location. We have never had this problem before and I have put it on the list of changes for Sheri for next year.
Having said that even when the Cruisers were in the other location I don't remember them running all the time, so maybe it is also a training issue.
Thanks for your input, all of these discussions will help to make Founders Day better each year

Good afternoon,

I think this is an important issue to bring up two police vehicles were running the entire night which was great for the kids they loved it. However the exhausts was awful I don't think running vehicles should be parked next to anyone working a booth. Me and other volunteer's needed to get way from the booth because of the exhausts. I was told that the police vehicles were moved at the last minute by the chairperson. Well rest a sure if the chairperson was at our booth sitting He or she would have been outraged.

I told Ray that we should not be next to running vehicles. Poor planning and I understand it is a big event but no one could stand an talk to us because of it.

Regards,

Vera

Subject: Founders Day

Hello all

First of al thank you for all your hard work before, during and after Founders Day.

A special thanks to those who started early with setup and stayed late to empty the parking lots and

Put the equipment away, it is truly appreciated.

While it is still fresh in your mind, We would like to receive feedback on what went right and what needs to be improved upon.

Initial discussions indicate that turning both drive ways into one way worked well with the exception of accommodating the larger trailers coming off the field and unable to make the turn onto Seminary Way.

The other problem that developed was the fact that pedistrians were pushing the walk button and stopping traffic on west mains st. Which was causing gridlock at the NHS driveway..

I would also like to receive some feedback from the NPD (Lt. Jackson) as to what they experienced in the Center of Town as to whether the Pedestrian use of the crosswalk Stop light was creating gaps in the flow that reduced the Thruput or was the Center maxed out anyway and the crosswalk signal only provided safe pedestrian crossing.

The only thing that I saw as a negative with the gridlock is that the eastbound traffic wasn't stopped far enough back from the drive way to allow left turn (westbound) traffic to exit. Officer Francis recognized this problem and stepped in to correct it by making the driveway a two man operation. One to control Eatbound and Left Turn, the second to control westbound. There was no problem with people trying to turn into the NHS Driveway from either East or West bound West Main St.or trying to turn it to the HAY School driveway by the old Bank of America.

As I said if anyone has any ideas as to how to improve the traffic flow we are open to ideas

Again THANK YOU for your help

Have a great summer

Ray Cord

Deputy Director

Norton EMA
