Hello to all,

       I hope everyone had an enjoyable Independence Day holiday and a big thank you to those of you who have served in the military that help keep that day possible for us all! I am writing to remind everyone that this Monday evening, AUG 1st is once again the first non-holiday Monday of the month.

      Thanks again to all who checked into the nets in July. While the numbers were a little low, I think we still put up a great showing!  

      For the Region 2 operators and Net Control team members, I would like to know who may be available to assist from the Region 2 bunker or who may be able to assist as a NCO from home. Please respond and let me know if and how you might be joining us.

      I am still in the process of putting together an updated contact list of RACES officers for each community in the region as I only heard back from a few operators with my request last month. The intent is to have this list posted at Region #2 HQ as well as share the list with the RACES officers and possibly EMA Directors in the Region. The idea is to increase the resources available to local officers for help with small issues that crop up. It may also allow EMDs who may be unfamiliar with RACES/ACS to reach out to communities that have a solid program for help in creating their own. 

      If possible, I would like to have each local RACES Officer e-mail their name, callsign, community, e-mail and a good contact phone number (even if you think I already know all these things) to WC1MAB at gmail.com. Again, please be aware that this information WILL be distributed to the EMDs and radio officers in the Region #2 area. It will NOT be posted on the website and will be marked as a "For Official Use Only" (FOUO) type document when it is distributed. 

      If anyone has been interested in participating as Net Control Stations, the call for operators is an open one. This is a great skill to practice and can be a big help for our region in the event that the State EOC is operating in lieu of the Region Office, but communications still need to happen. If any local RACES operators who have participated in nets recently are interested in acting as NCO please let me know and we will see how we can get you into the fray.
