We're halfway to filling the volunteer roster for the 2016 Marathon

Dear Allan,
180 hams have registered to volunteer at the 2016 Boston Marathon so far. We need about 350 to be sure we can staff all of the BAA's requested assignments. If you've already signed up, thanks so much for your enthusiasm! If you've been sitting on the fence, now’s the time to register.

Because this is such a popular public service event, you might guess we're flooded with more registrations than we can handle. It's a nice thought but the numbers show it's not the reality. Tremendous time and energy goes into filling the volunteer roster.

The BAA trusts that we can do this because you've done it before, volunteering year after year. You've represented us well to the BAA, to the runners, and the greater Boston community. You deserve all the credit and thanks for that. Now it's time to fulfill their trust again for 2016.

Whether or not you'll join us on April 18, please help spread the word by telling your friends and clubs to register now. It's crucial that we get enough volunteers registered by February 9. Credentials are changing and require more lead time to prepare. We won't have the flexibility to accept late registrations as we have in past years. If you’d like to help but aren’t sure about your schedule, register now and let us know in comments when you’ll know more.

Thanks again for your time and effort. If you have any questions about volunteer registrations or plans for this year's Marathon, please don't hesitate to e-mail us.

Brett Smith, AB1RL
