Hello All
Yes I know it is Field Day and Yes I know we need to support the clubs effort. However if anyone is not
going to Field Day or wants something else to do when they are not operating Field Day Here is the deal!
We need EMA & CERT volunteers for Norton Founders Day on Saturday June 22nd. Founders Day is an Annual Family Picnic and Activities Fair that Starts for the public at 5 PM and ends at 9 PM with Fireworks. This is a fun event and volunteers are encouraged to bring your families. There are plenty of Kids Activities and games, a Food Court, Bands, Singing Groups a DJ,and FD, PD,& EMA booths
Norton EMA-CERT provides Power Generation for the Food Court and Activities as well as Lights as it gets dark.
We also control the Parking Lots to insure Fire Lanes are kept clear and people can get in out safely. We also monitor the grounds and crowds to insure their safety and enjoyment. The hectic times are 5 to 6:30 and then 8 to 9 and then of course after the Fireworks when everyone wants to leave at once.
We will start setting up after lunch, but we need the bulk of the Team for 4 PM to 9 PM. You will get time to eat supper about 7 PM and will also have time off and on during the event to be with your family.
If you can work all the hours or more that is great and deeply appreciated. If you can't, what ever hours you can put in will also be appreciated.
Depending on the weather, Dress accordingly and plan for it to cool off as the sun goes down. Uniform will be T Shirt or Sweatshirt (preferably without sayings on them unless its Ham or EMA related) shorts or slacks (Jeans are OK) comfortable shoes or sneakers, your CERT or other HiViz Vest, a flashlight and if you have a set of the Inexpensive FRS Walie Talkies bring them. Hams bring a 2M HT as we will also be using 2M Simplex. Obviously any EMA, HAM or CERT related apparel regardless of what Town or club is encouraged to promote your team.
The Event is being held on the Campus of the H.A. Yelle Elementary School and Norton H.S. at 64 West Main St (Route 123 west of Route 140 from the Center). Volunteer Parking will be in the special lot at the Yelle school which is located between BankAmerica and the school. This lot will be for Vendors and Volunteers only so our people will be controlling access. Just identify yourself as a CERT Team member if I can't get you Parking Passes by then.
If any one on this email is interested in helping out please reply to me only with the following info. If there are other members of your Team that you think would like to help out please forward this email to them.
Name Call Times you can work email Cell phone (that you will have that night) any other info or requests
Thank you for your support and Interest in EMA & CERT Public Service. If you are new to Public Service
don't let that scare you off. We have plenty of Old Timers that can take you under their wing
Thank you 73
