Hello all
Here is an announcement of a new Training course or series of course from FEMA
It looks lik this could be the start of a revamp of the RACES program and an effort
to get Hams more embedded in Public Safety-EMA
Whatever it is, it is a step in the right direction

FEMA has created a new ICS position called Auxillary Emergency Communictor.
It is intended to remove some of the "stigma" from ham radio and Amateur
Radio operators. The term "auxillary" is used in many aspects within
NIMS/ICS structure, I think this is to be viewed as a good thing for Amateur
Radio EmComm!

Might be nice to see if we can get some folks in to that class. It seems to
match what we already do in Region 1, so not much of a change for us.

I am not sure how this will affect the RACES program, but it could be the
start of a revision of that program to bring it in to this century?
