Subject: [mras_general] Eastern Massachusetts ARES Stand-By Mobilization
Requested
Hello to all...
****EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS ARES STAND-BY ACTIVATION REQUESTED FOR POTENTIAL
WIDESPREAD RIVER AND STREAM FLOOD EVENT IN OR CLOSE TO THE EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS SECTION BEGINNING AT 7 PM SATURDAY LASTING THROUGH SUNDAY****
****FORMAL SKYWARN ACTIVATION WITH OPS AT NWS TAUNTON TO COMMENCE AT 4 PM
EDT****
****FURTHER UPDATES OR STAND-DOWN MESSAGE TO BE POSTED AS NEEDED****
Per coordination with the National Weather Service in Taunton,
Massachusetts, the potential exists for a widespread river and stream flood
event and it could be some of the worst flooding in 10-20 years. Given this
threat and the potential for significant infrastructure damage at locations
along rivers and streams, Eastern Massachusetts ARES is requested to be on
stand-by alert status to accomplish the following:
1.) Assist SKYWARN with river, stream urban flooding per the crtieria.
2.) Assist SKYWARN with infrastructure damage information.
3.) Have Go-Kits prepared in case a served agency or agencies requested
Amateur Radio assistance for any contingencies that maybe needed from a
communications perspective within our section.
4.) Prepare for a possible ARESMAT if a section close by needs ARES
assistance.
Please check your Go-Kits and be on the air monitoring your local SKYWARN
frequency as primary and your local RACES repeater as secondary.
Hopefully, the New England region will escape the worst of this situation.
If not, I look forward to working with all of you.
73,Rob-KD1CY.
