Hi Folks,
<>This was forwarded to me from the CEMARC list... if you're interested,
here's the data.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Saturday (9/18), the Council of Eastern Massachusetts Amateur Radio
Clubs (CEMARC) will be meeting aboard the USS Salem from 9AM to 1PM. All
area hams are encouraged to attend this meeting to find out what¹s
happening in the area. We have a couple of special tours planned of the
USS Salem, including areas that are not normally open to the public! Bob
Callahan, W1QWT, has volunteered to give tours of all of the radio
rooms, discussing what each was used for. Many of the radio rooms still
have their original equipment, some of it in working order! We also hope
to have tours of the rest of the ship, including the engine room and
lots more interesting sights.
The MaSATERN Group will have a Salvation Army Canteen on the pier
providing coffee, tea, or hot chocolate to early arrivals. Lunch will be
provided to all attendees, courtesy of the HamTestOnline
website. If there are any takers, the ham shack will be open from 1PM to
3PM for operating or hanging out. All are encouraged to stay and help
with the scouting activities from 3PM to 6PM. No prior experience is
necessary.
I need a firm commitment TODAY from 1 more experienced volunteer to make
the scouting activity happen! Supper will be provided for all hams that
help with the scouts in the afternoon, courtesy of the USS Salem
Overnight Adventure program. Instructions on how to get to the USS Salem
can be found at
www.uss-salem.org Admission and parking are free for volunteers.
(Remember to get your parking ticket validated on the ship.)
I hope to see you there!
