Prior to version 9, CT used to start up in the band of the last QSO
recorded.
Version 9, in order to keep up with technology, reads the band frequency
from the radio if it is connected to one.
The previous default to the last qso band was replaced by this feature.
Ken Wolfe has stated that this did not make
everyone "happy".
Ken Wolfe is presently considering an enhancement to go back to the old way
or at least provide a parameter
that can be used accordingly.
The biggest users of the feature would be those who do VHF contesting.
And ,of course, our field day processes would benefit from it.
At the present time, the default is 20 M unless you are connected to a
radio and are set up to read the
frequency from there.
I think that the simplest way around this for this coming field day is to
have each particular station type in the frequency in the QSO
field of the first QSO to go the appropriate band. - rather than the F1/F2
approach.
However, if we use radios with an interface that can communicate to CT,
the problem would go away
Another solution would be to not have the operators NOT change any of the
bands, so that all QSOs would be recorder in 20M
and then edit the files appropriately for the given band/station. Come to
think of it, I don't like this idea after I wrote it.
Finally, if it may be a problem, CT8 can be used to get around this -
although I must admit, I complianed the most about it.
I am sure that by next year's field day, the issue will be resolved.
After all of this, the simple answer is No.

Does anyone know how to force CT to start with a particular band selected?
I've always used CT 8.25 for the FD stuff, and that version starts on the
last band/mode that was used. (I put a dummy entry in each log, so I can
force it to the right band, without requiring the operator to change it).
This year I've got the 9.71.005 version .. and no matter what's in the log
.. when you start it .. it reverts to 20 meters.
Is this a bug in the 9.xx release or is there some startup parameter that I
can use?
Dick
