I used tiny lead split shot sinkers (the non-reusable
variety) as found at Wal Mart / K Mart etc...the
smallest ones are best...mixed with PL400 adhesive,
and pushed the mess into the back of the knob.
I don't think that if I had it to do all over again
that I would use the PL400, because it's messy, and
sticks to everything! Probably good old silicon
adhesive (from a caulk tube - 4 bucks at Lowe's)
would do much better.
Of course, I have a friend who is a machinist, and
he offered to machine one out of solid brass if I'd
buy the blank. Couple of years ago, that was twenty
bucks, so that's a decent idea -- if you can find
a willing machinist (the ones I know would be glad
to do it for a good bottle of Scotch, hi hi).
Hope that's helpful...
