[Vintage-Radio] Military radio receiver type SSD2

Hi to all from Italy, and excuse my poor english in advance ;-}

I have found a wooden case US military radio receiver type SSD2.
I think it was supplied to the troops for their relaxation, but I have =
not
been able to find nothing about upon the web.

Does someone know some info, or an url where I can read about this set?
