Hi All,
I am curious as to the present value of my pair of 1974 James B. Lansing
Century L-100 speakers? They are fully operational, in excellent+ condition,
have the replacement grill cloth fronts using the original wood frames and
still have the metal identification tags on the grills. I have had them
ceiling mounted for the past thirty-eight years. So when it comes to
scratches or other surface damage, there is almost none.
I also have a second pair that is missing the replacement grill cloth kit.
The original grills had a foam front with colored squares that measured
about 1.5 inches. I think they came in three different colors, mine were
blue. The foam flaked off after about ten years. The replacement grill
material was cloth. My 1974 speakers had the grills replaced, but the 1976
pair I did not aquire until after the grill replacement kits were no longer
available.
I used a pair of gray air conditioning grills instead of buying cloth kits
that cost several hundred dollars. The AC foam grills fit perfectly with no
modifications needed. They might not look as attractive as the cloth grill
fronts, but they still sound fabulous!
Oh yes, the second pair have been professionally reconed and sound fabulous!
The wooden cabinets, (Maple?), look great and are not scratched up or
otherwise damaged.
So gentlemen, just how much are each of these pairs of speakers worth?
