Hi All,

Sorry for the off topic post, but frankly you subscribers seem to have all
the answers to my audio/video questions!

Keeping in mind that I am totally blind, but quite familiar with both audio
and video replication, I have a question.

I absolutely must convert some VHS tapes to a DVD format. Now I am aware of
some machines that are quite easy to use that make reasonably good copies of
VHS tapes to DVD discs. Are such VHS to DVD copying machines at all like the
cassette tape to CD or DAT to CD or CD to DVD copying decks?

I am hoping that I can do the bulk of the replication myself Not a case of
vanity, more like there is seldom anybody around my QTH that is available
long enough to assist me with such duplication! So I learned years ago to do
my own audio duplication through a variety of electronic trickery and
auditory cues. I also did some limited VHS film editing by using auditory
cues etc.

What I need to do now is to remove VHS news media clips of myself, video
shot live on super 8 Mm and convert all of it into DVD clips that I can
access at will.

I have been told, and I do not know how accurate this is, that it is about
as easy as copying one VHS tape onto a blank cassette or the like.

Some of what I need to transfer to DVD is straight forward, as the entire
sixty minute VHS commercial film gets copied. No 'looking' for the right
spot to start or stop.

What would you experienced VHS to DVD duplication guys suggest for a totally
blind guy to use?

Thanks.
