[Vintage-Audio] Wondering About A SAE-5000

Hi All,

What can one of you tell me about the use and efficiency of the SAE-5000 
unit? I know it was used to filter out noise from the stylus, such as a 
static pop, imperfection on the record struck by the stylus etc.

Did they "really" work?
`
Can it be connected between the turntable and the amplifier phono inputs? I 
have no separate phono pre-amp.
