Hi All,
This is kind of off the topic, but does deal with vintage music in another
way.
Yesterday I was listening to an album by Johnny Tillotson. Some of his hits
included; Poetry In Motion, Dreamy Eyes, Talk Back Trembling Lips etc. He
recorded in the RCA Nashville studio with all of those incredible musicians
and engineers that nearly put Nashville on the road atlas behind him. When
one listens to the quality and depth of the sound back then in the early to
middle sixties one wonders how they made it happen. Especially when almost
every other vocal or instrumental artist was not able to generate comparable
sound, talent not withstanding. RCA simply stood head and shoulders above
all the rest.
Then again, with artists like Floyd Cramer on piano, Chet Atkins on guitar
and/or producing the song, the Anita Kerr Singers doing background vocals,
Boots Randolph sometimes blowing the sax etc., how could they not be
sensational?
Now with almost all of those incredible musical artists gone from the stage,
who has stepped up to try and fill their shoes?
Unrelated: If any of you would like a text copy of the many vinyl albums
that I have remastered to CD, send me an e-mail. I do not mind sharing the
music, since then it was music, today it is ... Well, auditory stimulation?
