[Vintage-Audio] Converting VHS to DVD

Hello All,

The old blind dude needs some of your wealth of wisdom. Please.

I need to convert some VHS material, including vintage radio interviews, 
historic on location footage - Waving Lady in GA - Halli buildings in 
Chicago, IL etc. from VHS to DVD.

I know I can buy a stand alone deck that will convert a VHS tape into a DVD. 
But I do not know what the loss factor is for audio and video on such 
machines etc.

I need your reccommendations gentlemen as well as your suggestions. Thank 
you very much.
