[Vintage-Audio] Re Super Thin Dynaflex

Hi All,

I noticed that the 1969 Danny Davis album was very very thin. I think that
Dyna Flex, or whatever its proper name is, came out about 1969. However,
this album is so thin that I can almost see light through it!

I have nevr encountered one that was thin thin and flexible before.

The 1972 Danny Davis album is also Dyna Flex, but is not quite as thin as
the one from 1969.

Why is there all of the seeming variations in album thickness? Obviously
less = cheaper production cost, but I think there is more to it then just
pinching a penny so tight that Lincoln sheds tears!

Unrelated, but sort of:
At what point in time did the record changer and turntable companies change
the tracking weight from 3 grams+ to about 1 gram? Remember fastening a
penny, 4.11 grams, on the turntable tonearm to keep the needle from
skipping?

Which raises another question. When did the needle become the stylus?

Somewhere between 1965 and 1969 this changed. Who done it?
