Hi All,
A number of you wrote me to express an interest in getting copies of the
Danny Davis And The Nashville Brass vinyl albums that I am remastering to
CD.
Well, there is one vinyl album that has the Nashville Brass With Willie
Nelson doing vocals. It is a nice album. However, I am 'not' going to
remaster that album right now. There is just something out of sync when one
is listening to the beautiful instrumental renderings of Danny Davis and
friends and then a vocalist, "any" vocalist, is added to the mix. It is like
having an incredibly beautiful fantasy mood suddenly blown all to
disassociated atomic particles by your faithful loyal dog scenting the air
with Hydrogen Sulfide!
Perhaps the analogy to old Rover is a bit overdone, but suffice it to say,
the mix of Willie Nelson with the Nashville Brass just is the wrong
chemistry. At least for me!
So I am going to remaster only the new vinyl albums of just the Nashville
Brass. If any of you want the album with Willie Nelson doing vocals, let me
know. I am going to remaster it, but I am not including it in the Nashville
Brass remastered CDS unless you request me to do so.
While I am on the topic of "Remastered Vinyl To CD", if any of you would
like a list of the vinyl albums that I have already remastered to CD using
all stand alone equipment, no computers are used by DBF for music, please
contact me. Almost all of the vinyl albums that I remaster are not available
on commercial CDS. If they were, I would not do the work!
However, as I have mentioned before, much to my surprise, many commercial
CDS do 'NOT' include all the songs off the vinyl album of the same name! For
instance. The Floyd Cramer album; Collectors Series". The vinyl has 16
songs, the commercial CD has 8! Al Hirt, his second RCA Nashville Studio B
album entitled "Cotton Candy", is NOT the same album! The CD is an
altogether different album! I know, I own it! So I remastered the original
"Cotton Candy" to CD. I have all four of Al Hirt's Studio B albums now
remastered.
Thanks to a dear friend of mine on this list, who's name I will not mention,
I finally got a new copy of the third Al Hirt Nashville album "Sugar Lips".
I have never been able to find that album anywhere. Since I played mine a
lot, to put it conservatively, it showed some wear! I finally did remaster
it, using every audio recording trick that I knew, and ended up with a
decent CD version. However, when the still sealed copy arrived here about
eighteen months ago, you know I wasted no time in remastering it!
