[Vintage-Audio] small speakers

Hi Michael,

I have a fairly detailed description of your stereo gear from a while back,
I am curious if it is still in the same room or if you managed to talk your
wife into letting youmove it into a larger area? I am particularily
interested in the placement of your speaker cabinets and what type of wire
you are using to connect them to the amplifier.

Some use "speed wire", some use special multiple strand shielded wire etc. I
know that the distance from the amplifier to the speaker cabinet can make a
difference, as can the impedence of the speakers, efficiency of the speakers
(high or low) and the amount of continuous RMS the amplifier puts out. Since
I am still using the same wire I bought in 1974, I am a "little" out of the
current speaker wire info loop!

Thanks! I would love to hear your system. When can I sneak in Bro?

Never have taken done that, no. I've read about the properties of acoustic
suspension designs but have not measured the EPIs or the ARs. I can't
exactly confirm flat response from what I've heard, but I can confirm there
are no obvious bumps in the curve and the bass response in both models is
both uncolored and very extended for such small speakers.

I've not had the pleasure of auditioning any classic JBLs since 1979, when I
compared the L100 to some other speakers at an audio salon. That is, until a
pair of L40s showed up at a local repair shop a few months ago. I liked them
very much indeed, and might just have to get pair if I can find some that at
the same time that I can afford some!
