Hi All,
Maybe Lee Hazen can lend some helpful thoughts. Lee may have some contacts
yet, definitely has the personal experiences, to help me find what seems to
be a rare Floyd Cramer recording.
Floyd is internationally reknown as a piano player with a most distinctive
style. He recorded an album in the late fifties, or early sixties, on an
organ. It was titled: "Floyd Cramer Gets Organized". He recorded a secon one
titled: "At The Console" around 1965. I have two copies of the second album,
but have never come upon the first recording.
Do any of you have a copy of "Floyd Cramer Gets Organized" or know anyone
who does?
It is my guess that Floyd, or whomever produced it, did it as a novelty, as
the unmistakeable magical touch Floyd has on the piano keys are lost on an
electronic organ. Hence, probably not many copies were pressed and sales
were probably low. So locating a copy may be more than a little difficult. I
would really love to hear this album! Due to health issues, I don't have a
lot of time to wait, so if one of you know where I can buy the album or a
decent copy of it, please point me in that direction.
One of you recently asked me what I used for a stylus because my recordings
are so crisp and noise free. Well, while part of it is skill and a zillion
hours of experience, the 'real' secret is working with a like new recording!
Beyond that it is a 1974 Sony model 5520 turntable using a Shure N91ed
cartridge and a Shure M91ed stylus. The "ED" stands for eliptical diamond.
I track at .75 grams, sometimes 1.25 grams, depending on the age of the
album. Older albums were cut deeper!
I hand cue "all" albums.
Gentlemen, I need a new Shure N91ed cartridge and desperately need a Shure
M91ed stylus! Can any of you help me? Please do 'NOT' send me links to web
pages guys, as being totally blind they are often nearly impossible for me
to navigate. Instead, please send me the address or telephone number or
e-mail address in regular print. Thanks!
If it is no longer possible to purchase the Shure stylus I need, could one
of you please suggest a replacement cartridge and stylus that will mount in
the tone arm of the Sony 5520? I want one with specifications as good as the
N91ed and M91ed, or superior. The limiting factor being the capability of my
turntable to utilize a better or "new and improved" technology.
I 'really' appreciate your guidance and assistance. You guys are the best!
