[Vintage-Audio] Cleaning up old equipment

Hi all,

I think this has come in this forum before, you have to excuse me- my memory
is not what it used to be! I recently acquired a nice older solid-state
receiver (Kenwood KR-6600) with circuit boards, lots of lights and buttons,
and a massive power supply. Everything is coated in rather tenacious dust-
some fluffy, some rather sticky though. Is there a tried and true method for
getting gunk off of boards and out of switches and pots and so on? I have
contact cleaner and alcohol. Would alcohol on a q-tip melt anything I'm
likely to encounter in an old rig this this? Any advice would be very much
appreciated.

Michael
