Bob, I would be very interested in what you have to say on this topic. I
have recorded live performances on several occasions. I found by far the
most challenging work (and most interesting, and gratifying) was
recording an acoustic ensemble. Instruments have a variety of
properties, of course, which must be taken into account when recording,
and I always find that a more challenge than electrical instruments.
I've gotten through recording acoustic instruments in a live setting
before on the skin of my teeth with just a couple of old standby
condensers placed just so after a lot of listening and tweaking. So I am
definitely interested in what wisdom you have to share on the topic.
