Gentlemen,

I am going to have the pair of Advent model 2002 speakers I acquired
reconed. The foam suspension is long gone. The cabinets are beautiful,
hardly a mark on them. The front grill looks good.

This model contains either a six inch or an eight inch 'woofer' and a
tweeter. (I will NEVER consider any speaker smaller than ten inches as a
woofer!) I am told by those who have owned them that despite their small
size and weight, the Advent 2002 do quite an impressive job. BIG sound for
small stature. True?

Now I figure that if I combine them with the DBX SW15 sub-woof woof and the
Yamaha CR-2200 with 70 watts continuous RMS per channel, that the results
should be acceptable. Even for a spoiled brat James B. Lansing Century
L-100 owner!

My oldest grandson is fourteen, has grown up with his wild and crazy
Grandpa, and has been exposed to 'real' audeio since he was in diapers! He
was able to load an Ameritron AL-1500 HF amp at age six and tell from his
room if Grandpa was playing music through the James B. Lansing system or
the B&W model 630 bi-wired system by age eight! He is also one of those
teenagers who does not like audio levels that shake the paint off the
walls! Hence am considering making himthe owner of this very nice vintage
stereo system.

Tell me straight up guys, are the Advent 2002 worth spending the money on
to have the foam suspension replaced?

When the frequencies above 250 Hz are fed to the Advent 2002 speakers they
should sound quite good, but what about the mid bass and low bass from 250
Hz down being fed into the DBX SW15 sub-woof woof? Good? Bad? Or Ugly?

Thanks!
