I have heard a few of your CDs and they are phenomenal, and I'd love to
hear more.
By the way, that spectral analysis I did of your CDs was done on my PC,
with tools downloaded free from the internet. No fancy lab required!

I have forty CDS I recorded of the original songs, not remastered, of
the
Billboard Top 100 from 1956-1966! About 90% of them!
I bought each 45 'new', recorded it to DAT and then to CD.
I have many albums you can no longer buy on CD, none of which are
commercially available. I can supply you with enough music to
listennon-stop for a month. What can I seve your ears?

I've got a smattering of 4-channel media, and still listen from time to
time on my Sony SQ decoding receiver. I have to say I like the 4-channel
8 tracks quite a bit, to be honest, although the mechanism of my
particular player is a little noisy.
You know, one day most broadcast media will be digital, and I honestly
think at that point you could sell subscribership to some sort of analog
broadcast, low-power station, for esoteric types (or silly nostalgic
types like me). I'd love to hear some decent FM or, even cooler, AM
without the high frequencies chopped off! I have a wide-band AM
component waiting at home for just such a revolutionary moment. I hope
that shortwave and ham radio will prevent the FCC from banning analog
broadcast entirely.
By the way, the 1 in 5.1 refers to the subwoofer. Left and right front
channels, a center channel, left and right rear add up to five, and the
subwoofer makes point 1. I don't know why it isn't 6 instead, as
surround sound receivers send discrete low frequency info to that
channel. Maybe because we don't sense it as a unique sixth channel? At
least we aren't supposed to. Personally, I prefer my high and low end
information to seem to come from the same source. Subwoofers kinda drive
me crazy, whether in a car or in a living room.
Of course, I'm also the same guy who bought a surround sound receiver
just so I could play DTS-encoded audio and DVD audio discs, using ...
wait for it... two speakers! I guess you'd call it a 2.0 system. I
confess I do have rear speakers that I use occasionally, to see if
something interesting has been done with the extra channels on those DTS
discs. So far, nothing interesting.

I seem to remember having a bunch of the SQ LP's, a few done in the QS
format, and a bunch done in CD-4. They're hanging out in one of my
closets. Have a bunch of 8-tracks that we use to use at Lafayette as
demos. Not looking to add to the collection. I generally don't spend
much
time anymore sitting in front of the hi-fi stuff. When I have free time,
I generally spend it listening to 6 meter static.
