I've done a modest amount of work with PA equipment, in churches, live
performance etc.  "Most" of what I've seen uses the good old 1/4" jack,
often a pair of them in parallel to allow "daisy chaining" speakers.
Another special connector often used in professional installations only is
called a "Fast-On" (sp?) but I haven't seen a lot of those.  I've also seen
some with a set of Double 5 way binding posts that accept banana plugs,
usually in the form of a double banana plug.  But I'd say the 1/4 inch plug
is most common, especially in comparatively small portable setups (up to a
few hundred Watts or so).  The cables/plugs are usually quite heavy duty,
not the chintzy lamp cord or "guitar cord" stuff.
