1/4 track (4 track) was available on the B77. I am sure there were
aftermarket modifications also but have no firsthand knowledge. Also, do not
know if the only change was the heads. Many machines (not necessarily Revox)
that were 2 track were upgraded to 4 track playback so tapes by others could
be played back.

Is there any possibility the B-77 was available with both
4 track and 2 track playback heads?  There were several
tape desks that had the capability of switching between
a real two track head assembly and a four track head assembly.
Don't know if the Revox B-77 was one that would do that.
