Well,  I for one would love to hear more about this!  Especially now that
"Standing in the Shadows of Motown" has finally given the Funk Brothers
their long-awaited recognition.

Back to the topic of Acoustic Research, when I got interested in this stuff
in the 60's, the AR-3s were all the rage.   Never have owned any but I did
stumble onto a pair of AR-2s and they seem to share many of the same
qualities that have been described.   I'd be interested in knowing the
differences and evolution of the product line as what I've read online is a
bit contradictory.  It sounds like at one time the AR-1, AR-2, and AR-3 were
on the market simultaneously, and then there were the -A versions and the
later AR models.
