Hey, fantastic information. Thank you. It just so happens that the tech and this
deck are presently in CA, so this might work out well.	

Which brings up the question of head alignment. Where does one get the test tone
tape anymore?	

Bob, W9RAN, do you have one I can borrow or get a copy of?

Duane,
I deal with a company in LA that specializes in recontouring heads
(relapping). The cost is $35-45. They have done several for me and they come
back like new. Some heads are too far gone for this and I don't think they
charge anything if that's the case. The company is;

What can you tell me about the quality, reliability and value of the Pioneer
model RT-901 reel to reel deck?

I have accidentally discovered one that is in very nice overall condition.
The
exception being the record head, which shows moderately heavy wear. The play
back head shows only mild wear. Pioneer does have the heads available yet,
but
pricy!

Does anybody know of a person, or company, that can grind and reshape the
heads?
If so, who and how do I get in contact with them?

I have the owners and service manuals for it.
