Mike (and all)

I have an extensive audio collection on vinyl, reel to reel, DAT and CD. If the
studio put the quality into the recording, and most of them did with the vinyl,
it will beat a CD copy anytime anywhere.

I recently was listening to a pair of Bozak B310 being driven by top of the line
Macintosh amps. (The Bozak Concert Grand B410 differs only in the location of
the eight tweeters per cabinet! The B410 has decorative wood down the center of
the cabinet, where the B310 has the eight tweeters there. The B410 has the left
cabinet with the tweeters down the left side and the right cabinet with the
eight tweeters down the right side.) We were listening to a vinyl of great
sopranos of the century. Some went back to recordings made in 1908. You could
hear some noise, but the voice was very clear. When we listened to some in the
middle twenties, the quality was noticable better. The audio in the forties was
hardly different than the twenties. Now the fifties was a vast improvement!
Nonetheless, the sound they got back in the teens and twenties is absolutely
incredible for what they had to work with.

Michael: Interesting. I will check out the dates, some FZ web sites AND the
CD of We're Only In It For The Money, although I suspect the CD loses some
of its parody value due to the CD format. Vinyl is the clear winner
here.--Mike, WV2ZOW

zappa felt no compunction about tweaking his own music... the initial CD
release of "We're only in it for the money" had completely RERECORDED bass
and drum tracks!! So it's a completely different album. Zappa himself may
have remixed Ruben and the Jets.
