Duane: Has a similar experience with one of my favorites from the same era--
Frank Zappa's Ruben and the Jets. Listened to the vinyl many times on
various systems, cassette tapes I recorded and played in the car, etc. and
knew the sound. I saw the CD for sale a few years ago, bought it and it
sounded awful. On closer inspection, I found out it was remastered and
REMIXED. I burned a copy of my vinyl to CD -- much better. Sometimes its not
just the media--its sound engineers screwing with the sound. --Mike, WV2ZOW

I was listening to the Anita Kerr Singers on a RCA 1968 vinyl recording and
then
played one I just purchased that was released in 1992 on CD. Wow! What a
difference! No, not the type of music, the quality of the audio. 	

It is really surprising how good the vinyl still sounds when compared to
many of
the supposedly superior digital media. It is hard to put into words, but the
'presence' just is not there. Oh yes, it is clean and quiet, but also dead.
Maybe it is time once again to get the wax build up cleaned out of my ears.
