It appears the only damage done when the 5R4/gz34 rectifier developed a dead
short was the exploding 20 ohm 10 watt resistor between it and the first
electrolytic capacitor. Hence, I purchased a new tube from Stan Winston of ESRC
in Orlando, FL and located a new resistor to replace the vertically mounted one
that blew apart. I elected to mount the resistor under the chassis for
simplicity.

This amplifier is certainly built well and its actual specifications greatly
excede the ones Scott published. Definitely worth repairing and preserving.
