Today I went to play an album and the Sony turntable was not working. Worked
just fine a few days ago. Hmmm. Platter was not moving. So the old blind dude
stupidly stuck his left index finger in one of the three large holes in the
heavy metal platter and 'looked' around.
If the new antibiotic Lebaquin for an UTI disagreeing with me was not enough to
make me miserable, I discovered that the drive shaft was still turning in the
turntable! Darn near drilled a hole in my Braille finger. I also noted that the
belt was off. So I powered it down and removed it from the console.
The belt is not broken, seems pliant, but is way too long. I mean, three inches
too long. This is not just a case of stretched, as it could not possibly have
run the last time with a belt that was this sloppy. Now I reason there must be a
tension adjustment for this belt, but i sure can not find one.
Do any of you have any suggestions? This turntable I purchased new in 1974. I
did replace the belt about eight years ago. It has had some use each month.
The only number I have written down is MD 88858.
