Ah yes, some DAT (digital audio tape) down loaded onto my Revox B77 at 7 1/2
ipsand then played back through the deck with a Teac AN-180 Dolby unit. All fed
into the H. Scott LK-72b amplifier and then to my 'non-vintage' Paradigm 9s
speakers. I custom recorded nearly six hours of Christmas music on DAT from my
extensive vinyl and CD collection. About 120 tracks and sixty different artists.
A labor of love, as it took a lot of time to sequence every track and get a
perfect cut. A wonderful variety, however, and well worth the work.
This season I did spend over sixty hours converting the DAT masters to CDS. I
still have some imperfections I can not figure out the reason for. Sony has not
documented any of them, naturally! Most people would never know they are on the
CD, but I do.
Listening to Bobby Vee, remember him from the sixties? One of his bigger hits
was Rubber Ball. Voice is noticeably lower, but sounds alright. Now Bobby
Vinton, of Blue Velvet fame, from the same era, still sounds fantastic! They
call him the Polish Prince and I can hear why. What a talent.
I hope you all have a most joyous holiday, regardless of your religious beliefs,
customs and traditions. It is all about love, no matter what else you believe
in.
