HAVE ALMOST ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS

We are just over a week away from the 2023 Lincoln Electric Rally of the Tall Pines rally day.  At this point we have about 180 volunteers signed up and we can just get by with that for Saturday, as long as we don’t have many cancellations, but we really could use another four or five HAM radio operators.

WORKER ASSIGNMENTS

We have just posted your Worker Assignments. You must be a registered volunteer to access anything related to your assignment and all documents that you might want to reference.

You can also see when and where groups will be meeting by accessing the Meeting Locations Chart for the different stage teams and for the Shakedown group (see instructions below for accessing documents).

Assignments and location documents are also attached to this email.

To see most of the documents that could be relevant to your assignment, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to: https://register.gotrally.ca/

2. Enter the same email address you signed up with

3. You will receive an email with the verification/validation code

4. Enter the verification/validation code

5. You will see a link to 'Documents'

6. Download the files

If you have difficulty accessing any of these, contact us and we will assist you.

If you find any problems with your assignments, get back to us ASAP. Note – preparing the assignments is a very complex task. A change for one volunteer almost always has a domino effect, so unless there is a real problem with your assignments, we would appreciate it if you would accept them as they are. We really did try to accommodate all your requests as best we could.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY ASSIGNMENTS

As you will see when you check the Assignments list, Saturday’s are pretty much completed. Friday’s are well underway and we will post them as soon as we can. The assignment list is still a work in progress. In fact we have found that it is best to leave some unspecified until you arrive to give us a bit more flexibility in covering our needs.

When you arrive on Thursday or Friday, first you should see Jane Leonard at the Volunteer desk to get registered. After that, then if you need clarification re your duties, see Doug Hollands, Greg McGrath or contact me.

All Thursday volunteers will receive instructions directly from me by email or phone in the next few days.

ACCOMMODATIONS

As for the Subsidized Worker Accommodations , there are only a few spots left, so if you are looking to book a spot, you had better sign up ASAP in the Worker Section of the website. If you have problems, contact Jane at accommodations@tallpinesrally.com

COURSE CAR/OPERATIONS MEETING

The meeting for Course Car volunteers and other officials will be held in the HQ basement on Friday at 7:30 PM.

E TIMING TRAINING

This year we will again be using the RallySafe, tracking and timing system.  For those of you who will be working with timing, we strongly suggest that you check out the RallySafe training videos at

https://rallysafe.com.au/training/ provides interactive training for Start, Time and Finish controls. Acts just like you had the tablet in your hands.

https://rallysafe.com.au/officials-tm/ This has PDF manuals for Start, Finish, Check-in, course car and others.

Each of the RallySafe tablets that each stage team will receive, one for Stage Start and one for Stage Finish -  (available any time after noon on Friday) will also have full training videos on them.

In addition we will also be having a Webex video conference, mainly to go over RallySafe operation in further detail. We are aiming to do that on Monday evening (November 20) at 7:30 PM..

You can access that by going to https://jucohen-sandbox.webex.com/jucohen-sandbox/j.php?MTID=m6fab15091b6c1449db6550701c2ccbd5

FOOD AT RALLY HQ
This year there will be a food concession operating again inside Rally HQ on Friday and Saturday.

BEING PREPARED

The roads are in good shape and all gravel at the moment. At this point I wouldn’t want to predict if they will be snow-covered, part gravel or what next weekend, although the forecast is calling for some rain and snow. We highly recommend that you have your winter tires on.

For those of you who will be working controls, be sure to bring suitable clothing, food & drink and a flashlight or headlamp with spare batteries, plus a clipboard and pen.

For the HAM radio operators, the main frequency for the weekend will be 147.285+ with a tone of 118.8. The other repeater frequency is 146.610- with a tone of 100.0   Be sure these are programmed in your radio.  Simplex frequencies are 146.520, 146.550 and 146.580. Be sure to have them all programmed in your radio.

THE START ORDER LIST

Things are shaping up really well for next weekend. The Start Order is posted in the Competitor section of the Tall Pines website at www.tallpinesrally.com Some really hot competition shaping up.
