1st offering for 2024

2024


So, here we are in twenty-four

Dare we ask for any more?

What was dished out in the past few years

Has brought us to this point, some in tears


Here we are, at the beginning

When will it stop? - - all this sinning

Crime rates are up and wars continue

We feel the hurt in every sinew


Leaders should represent the people

But our voices seem lost behind a locked door's keyhole

Closed door sessions are the norm

Where plots are plotted

And storm-clouds form


People just want a pleasant life

To exist in comfort without any strife

Is that too much to ask?

I'm sure you'll all quote

To the captain of this sinking boat


We had all better get our act together

Or none will survive this stormy weather
