[PARC] PARC minutes, November, 2017

Dave, VE3SD called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.

 

Following introductions, Devon DEV read October's minutes.

 

Barry, VE3bal presented the treasurer's report.  Petty cash: $254.28.  GIC:
$844.34.  PARC: $3,557.55.

 

Activities.  Dave, SD reported that JOTA didn't attract as many scouts as he
would have liked, and he would like more operators next year.  Barry, BLM
told us that Mel, ACD is now in paliate careat home.

 

Technical.  Rick, IQZ reminded folks to wait a moment after depressing the
mic button so that the beginning of their transmissions won't be cut off.
He also made note of the fact that the repeater will time out after three
minutes.

 

New Business.  Bob, IEL reminded us about the 10 metre net each Saturday
night at 8:00 on 14.625.Peter told us that his daughter Eilis, VE3EIW passed
grade 9 with flying colours, and thanked and thanks everyone for helping her
with her ham licence specifically and science in general.

 

Dave, SD noted the fact that PARC was founded in 1945, and the founder's
second call was none other than VE3SD.  Rick, IQZ also shared some PARC
trivia.

 

Devon, DEV reminded us about the Christmas dinner on December 9.  She would
like names and numbers of those attending so that we know how close to 60 we
are.  She will check on the price of the buffet.

 

Dave announced that TJR is very likely to be in Selwin Township, but we will
have expenses.  Selwin would like a financial commitmentfrom us to indicate
that we are serious.  Dave asked whether the membership would agree to
spending somewhere between $2,000 and $3,500.  A motion to that effect was
made by Barry, VA3BB, and seconded by Paul, VE3KBI.  Carried.

 

Dave wondered whether anyone might have suggestions for guest speakers.
Barry, BLM said he would speak to Ralph, RO.  Harmen, VE3EMA was asked to
speak on Satellites for Dummies, and perhaps how to converse with the space
station.

 

The next meeting will be December 5.  Bob WWI and Mark, HMP moved for
adjournment.
